Criminal Research

County Criminal Records

This report includes a search of felony and misdemeanor court records in selected counties. Hirease recommends those jurisdictions associated with the applicant's current and previous residences be searched. Reported information will include court, case number, date filed, charges, conviction date and disposition (where reported by clerks).

State Criminal Records

This report includes a search of felony and misdemeanor court records (compiled by the State Patrol or another law enforcement agency) in appropriate judicial districts. Hirease recommends jurisdictions associated with the applicant’s current and previous residences be searched. Reported information will include court, case number, date filed, charges, conviction date and disposition (when provided by the State). Not all states have effective statewide searches due to lack of centralized computer systems and reporting regulations. County level searches are recommended with the exception of certain states.

Federal Criminal Records

This report includes a search of court records in appropriate judicial districts. Hirease recommends jurisdictions associated with the applicant's current and previous residences be searched. Reported information will include court, case number, date filed, charges, conviction date and disposition.

Civil Records

This report includes a search of county civil records to include judgments against the plaintiff. Reported information will include jurisdiction, case number, file date, judgment and judgment amount (if applicable).

Multi-state Criminal Search

The multi-state criminal search provides access to criminal records in over 40 states plus DC. Information comes from various jurisdictions including county court records, state repositories, Department of Corrections, Department of Public Safety, Traffic Court and proprietary offender data. This search is inclusive of the National Sex Offender Registry. NOTE: Pursuant to the FCRA Section 613, Hirease, Inc. must maintain strict procedures in regarding the accuracy of any adverse information contained in the Multi-State Database to determine if it is complete and up to date. Therefore, Hirease requires that if any report on an applicant is returned with incomplete information from a Multi-State search, in compliance with the FCRA, Hirease must conduct a county level search to obtain the accurate information. Information included should be used as a tool for uncovering additional jurisdictions to be explored. Hirease recommends using this service in conjunction with a county level criminal search.

National Wants & Warrants Search

This is a nationwide search for any outstanding Extraditable Warrants in any state. This could include misdemeanors or felonies. Find out if your applicant is a wanted fugitive in any state in the U.S. Report includes type of record, status, and name of agency of origin.

Volunteer Screening

Hirease's Volunteer Screen Program is specifically designed for volunteer and non–profit organizations. This screening service provides a report that includes the following: criminal data information on the full name and/or alternate names used by the volunteer, dates at listed addresses, validity of the SSN provided, age/date of birth, and available phone information. This report helps protect non–profit organizations from negligence claims, helps ensure safety of vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly and helps prevent costly public relations nightmares.

 

Verification Services

Employment Verification

Hirease will report verifier's name and title, and if employer policy permits, applicant's dates of employment, position held, starting and ending compensation, eligibility for rehire, and reason for leaving/termination. In order to complete an Employment Verification, Hirease needs the Name (employer), Location (city/state), Phone Number and/or Website of employer, Employee Name (any alias names used during employment), Social Security Number and Date of Birth. If incorrect or incomplete information is provided, an additional surcharge will apply for Hirease to research.

W-2 Income Verification

This report verifies an applicant’s complete salary validation and lists all employers an applicant has worked for during the requested year. Information pulls directly from the Internal Revenue Service. Turnaround times for verification of income are expedited due to the direct access to the IRS versus tracking down and requesting from multiple resources. Hirease will document the applicant's previous employer, name, and title. Please note a separate release is required for this service.

Education Verification

This report verifies an applicant's academic history to include: dates of attendance, main course of study, type of degree received and GPA, if available. Hirease will document the verifier's name and title when completing this verification. In order to complete an Education Verification, Hirease needs the Name (school), Location (city/state), Phone Number and/or Website of school, Student's Name (any alias names used during enrollment), Social Security Number and Date of Birth. If incorrect or incomplete information is provided, an additional surcharge will apply for Hirease to research.

Professional Reference

This report will contain a basic work profile from a professional reference provided by the applicant. An agreed upon, pre-determined list of questions will be addressed - hitting on target issues pertinent to: responsibilities, title, relationship to applicant, performance and skills scalability, strengths/weaknesses, reliability/dependability, interpersonal skills – interaction with management, co-workers and clients and more…

Professional License Verification

This report confirms professional license credentials and reports the date received, expiration date, and status of license.

 

Data Services

Social Security Trace

This report will verify the issue date of the social security number, if the number has been reported deceased or not yet been issued. The report will also reveal other names used by the applicant, such as maiden names or Aka's and addresses listed by applicant when they have applied for credit (information comes from credit bureaus and other sources). Note: The Social Security Trace should not to be construed as the E-verify program through the Department of Homeland Security and/or the Social Security Administration. National Sexual Offenders Registry

The National Sex Offender Database is an extensive search that checks registered sex offender data sources nationwide. This report provides sex offender case information in an easy–to–read report along with pictures of registered sex offenders to validate identity- if available from state agencies. A URL to the jurisdiction's website for more information is available. Sex Offenders sources typically include: Bureaus of Investigation, Departments of Law Enforcement, Departments of Corrections, Departments of Justice, Departments of Public Safety, Sheriff Departments, State Attorney General's Offices, and State Police. This database is compiled from violent and sex offender registries in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

TransUnion PEER®
(Pre-Employment Evaluation Report)

The PEER Report from TransUnion gives you a completely unbiased account of a potential candidate's financial background information. It helps you assess the candidate's financial responsibility by showing a complete credit history. PEER traces the person's credit history and can then help you identify those applicants who are potentially financially overextended or on the brink of having problems that could adversely affect their performance on the job. It could also signal a pattern of transiency or instability, as well as an inability to meet obligations.

OFAC Terrorist Database

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) administers a series of laws that impose economic sanctions against hostile targets to further U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives. This exhaustive report screens the names and descriptor information of people identified as posing a threat to the interests and security of the United States. This screen also runs against a database of known narcotics traffickers, terrorists, and businesses and organizations supporting threatening activities. OFAC identifies terrorists and fugitives by searching data from numerous agencies. A complete list of databases is available upon request.

Federal Financial Sanctions

Financial Sanctions Checks are commonly used in industries and positions involving financial dealings and search worldwide to check candidate names against known sanctions and restricted lists. This database includes over 100 data sources from the U.S., foreign governments, and international watch list data sources.

LDP

The Limited Denial of Participation check lists individuals who are suspended from further participation in HUD programs.

Volunteer Check

Our Volunteer check is used for non-profits and includes a Multi-state Criminal Search and Social Security Trace.

SEC

This search verifies that companies are in compliance with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

OIG/GSA

A comprehensive search for any information reported by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General. If an applicant (or entity) has committed any act of fraud against Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federally funded health care program, that information will be captured in an OIG/GSA search. Additionally, the search can be conducted by name of firms or individuals that have been suspended, debarred or otherwise excluded from Federal Procurement and Non-procurement Programs.

FACIS® Medicare/Medicaid Sanction Check

The Fraud and Abuse Control Information System (FACIS®) allows organizations to make different risk management decisions depending on the individual or entity. FACIS® offers three levels of screening. The three levels vary in the depth of the sanction search provided. All levels meet the government's minimum requirements for sanction screening as set forth in the OIG's Compliance Program Guidance. Additional options for basic search plus one state or the most comprehensive search which allows you to conduct a search of disciplinary actions taken by federal agencies as well as those taken by licensing and certification agencies in all 50 states.

CBSV

The Consent Based Social Security Verification is a Social Security Number (SSN) verification service that provides instant verification of the applicant's SSN, name, date of birth, gender, and death index. Once all information is gathered from the applicant, it is compared to the master list of the Social Security Administration (SSA). The CBSV provides access to the SSA Master File and Death Index while guaranteeing accurate results, as long as identity information is entered properly. Hirease submits the information after receiving written consent from the applicant, and gets instant results for our clients.

Motor Vehicle Record

This report contains a summary of the applicant's state motor vehicle record. Three years and up to seven years history are available. Reported information will include any disciplinary actions, issue date, expiration date, status and restrictions. Hirease offers Motor Vehicle Reports for all 50 states.

School Accreditation

This service allows you to verify if the school an applicant attended is currently on an accreditation list.

Selective Service

This service allows you to look up a Selective Service number, as well as the date the applicant registered.

SING

This service allows you to search The Single Contact Repository in Iowa for criminal records.

This report will verify if any abuse - child or adult - has been reported against the individual. Availability varies by state.

Online Applicant Release

Hirease’s online applicant release is integrated with our employment screening service to help expedite the hiring process. Candidates receive a link via email to sign the AUTHORIZATION AND RELEASE FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF CONSUMER REPORT electronically. Clients receive an email notification of the completed request and can access the signed release through our secure website.
